Rainbow over the Cayey Highway Mountains - Puerto Rico

Fun Beach Experience in Isla Verde

When it comes to exploring the island and getting around, we encourage you to rent a car for at least a few days to see the island.  Many tourists stay within the constraints of the resorts and we can’t blame them, some resorts offer great entertainment and pampering services providing everything you may need on a vacation, however, if you want to get to know Puerto Rico, get out and explore.

By Car

The best and most convenient way to see the island is by renting a car so you can be free to explore as much as your heart desires.  Explore Puerto Rico by Car – Puerto Rico Car Rental Guide

By Bicycle

If you love bicycling get ready to explore our amazing trails.  Some regions are more apt for getting around by bike.  Getting around Puerto Rico by Bike

By Train

The train is mostly used by locals.  The train is not really helpful to travelers visiting the tourist areas.

By Public Transportation

We don’t recommend visitors to rely on public transportation, it is not a reliable way of getting around.  Publicos (shared fixed cost rides) are becoming harder to find, few locals rely on them for transportation.  Taxis are available, but they are expensive, you’ll save more money and have more freedom with a car rental during your stay.

By Ferry

There are public ferries transporting to the offshore islands of Vieques, Culebra, and from the San Juan Pier to Catano and Hato Rey. Private ferries can take you to the offshore islands of Caja de Muerto in Ponce (south region) and Gilligan’s in Guanica (west region).  + Puerto Rico Ferries
