If you’re driving through Ponce, La Guanca Boardwalk is a nice place to stop. La Guancha offers some pretty views of the bay, marina, and the offshore island of Caja de Muertos. It’s typically only busy here on the weekends. There is not much to do here besides eating traditional fried foods and good drinks. Music events are also held at the concert pavilion. There’s an observation tower with scenic views, so be sure to bring your camera. There are boat trips going out to Caja de Muertos, a wonderful day trip with gorgeous beaches, hiking trails, and a historic lighthouse.
Be sure to say hi to “Pancho”, the friendliest pelican in Puerto Rico. Your kids will love feeding the birds, tarpons swimming by the boardwalk, and our friendly pelicans.
