“The permanent collection consists of 4,500 paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, ceramics, three-dimensional objects, photographs, engravings, drawings, videos and installations of sound art. The works of art span 30 centuries (from 900 BC to the present) and come from Europe, America, and Africa. In 1956 Luis A. Ferré established a foundation that bears his name and acquired his first group of European paintings for the future museum in Ponce that opened in 1959.”

Visiting Hours – Museo de Arte de Ponce

Due to reparations of the building, the museum is only open on Fridays from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

“Every Friday, visitors can participate in guided tours or freely enjoy the exhibitions “Consonances: Reencounters with the Collection” and “Alerta.Amorfa.”, both are located in the annex building of the Museum. Tours will take place at 10:00 am. and 3:00 p.m. in Spanish and at 1:00 p.m. in English.  The MAP Store will also be open during the new hours.  The space has a variety of art books, jewelry, crafts by Puerto Rican artists, and items alluding to masterpieces from the Museum’s renowned art collection at affordable prices.  The collection of the sales of the Museum store contributes to covering the operational expenses of the organization.
